Acision delivers SMS roaming to Qtel's prepaid subscribers

31 March 2008

Acision, the messaging company of choice for more than 300 operators worldwide, today announced that it has successfully deployed its Prepaid SMS Roaming solution for Qtel. This allows the operator’s prepaid subscribers to send SMS messages while out of Qatar.

Acision deployed the feature-rich application to improve the messaging experience to Qtel’s prepaid customers whilst ensuring congestion-free delivery. The service, known as "Hala" and currently in effect, targets all of Qtel's prepaid customers (80 percent of Qtel's total subscribers).

With Acision's Prepaid SMS Roaming, pre-paid Hala customers can now send an SMS from over 217 operator networks in 104 countries without having to buy a foreign operator’s SIM card or switch to a post-paid account.

“We have introduced this service as part of our commitment to our prepaid customers," said Qtel Chief Operations Officer, Sheikh Fahd Bin Jassim Al Thani. "We chose Acision because of its leadership in messaging & charging; and its track record of high performance and high availability. Qtel is delighted to work in partnership with a company who have a track record of proven expertise in delivering feature-rich, robust platforms , designed to cope with our heavy traffic. Acision's Prepaid SMS Roaming ensures that Qtel's services do not stop when users leave Qatar."

Nabil Y. Khalil, Managing Director for Acision in the Middle East and North Africa, said, "Qatar is a key market for Acision and we have worked closely with Qtel to ensure that all prepaid customers remain connected while travelling for business or vacation. As one of Qtel's key strategic technology partners, we are committed to applying our global expertise to help Qtel take telecoms services in Qatar to the next level."

Prepaid SMS Roaming is part of Acision's Message Charger offering. The innovative platform can be easily tailored to specific requirements with bundles and flexible tariffs applicable to SMS, MMS, data and content. Acision’s pre-delivery charging solutions eliminate fraud and revenue leakage from ‘out of credit’ customers and enables a host of services for prepaid and postpaid subscribers alike.
