Acision teams up with 160characters for breakfast briefing
Next Thursday, December 15, will see Acision team up with leading SMS and messaging association 160characters for the first in a series of breakfast briefing sessions.
One of the defining trends of 2011 has been the emergence of OTT messaging services, which has led to the somewhat premature speculation that such new services would spell the end of SMS. The ongoing ubiquity, reliability and revenue-generating capacity of SMS suggests otherwise. Furthermore, the advent of RCS-e would seem to further indicate that SMS will continue to play a key role in the wider messaging landscape for some time to come, as traditional messaging seeks to incorporate feature rich functionality such as group messaging and media content sharing.
It is within this context that the inaugural session of this new series of events will focus on the rise and rise(?) of mobile messaging and mobile marketing. With Teresa Cottam of Telesperience confirmed as moderator, the panel session promises to stimulate a lively debate on the evolution of mobile messaging and the role it will play in the development of the (hitherto) nascent mobile marketing industry.
